Battlestar Galactica Season 2.0 Discussion Questions (Disc 1)
This is an attempt to continue the discussion questions for viewing the television series Battlestar Galactica. Following the pattern laid out by Ryan Torma, who wrote the discussion questions for season one, I have continued with season two-disc one. The questions are meant to be discussion starters for small groups following the viewing of the episodes. The questions deal with faith, politics, and all the other topics we are supposedly supposed to avoid! This aid is meant to be used in a variety of faith settings!

I made a few modifications to the overall plan to reflect the religious setting. This activity is meant to show the commonality that there is through out generations by looking at major events that have happened during each persons life.

World Hunger-Focused Bible Study
While working in marketing at Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), a Christian hunger relief organization, I developed this Bible study curriculum. Considering the time intensity of the project development, the intended audience was a broad one: congregations wishing to study God’s Word in connection to the problem of world hunger, likely congregations with some physical proximity to an FMSC food-packing site or MobilePack event. The audience, thus, was not age-specific. However, knowing the broad age base at hand, I took that into account by attempting to write questions at a fairly simple level, with little assumption of prior knowledge of world hunger information or Scripture. Were I to revise the curriculum, I would invite learners to a more in-depth study of two to three biblical passages instead of cursory glances into dozens of passages. I would also hope and try to work with a more specific audience and plan relevant activities and questions accordingly. While the curriculum was developed largely as a marketing piece for this specific organization, I think you'll find many of the discussions and activities relevant to broader conversations about God's Word, world hunger, and God's call to us in response. Should you wish to volunteer or otherwise engage with FMSC, I encourage you to do so. To learn more, visit fmsc.org. Note that all statistics are from July 2008. For updated information, refer to the sources listed on page 15 of the PDF. Also, note that the video referenced in the Unit 4 activity (page 12 of the PDF) is no longer in use by FMSC. Lutheran Youth Day - Adult Reflection Handout
This was a handout given to adult leaders of youth groups that ranged from 5th-12th grade. It was given out after a day long youth event at Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania called Lutheran Youth Day. LYD is an event geared for teenagers that include small group, large group, worship and musical performance. The theme for last year’s LYD was “Come Gather at the Lake Shore” and the curriculum focused on themes of baptism. This handout outlines the curriculum from that day’s small group times, divided into Junior High and Senior High groups. There were two small group sessions throughout the day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Since adult leaders did not go to small group with their youth, the purpose of the outline was to create discussion among adult leaders and their youth on the drive home and during the weeks after LYD.
